The Mental Institute of EVE was created in 1883. Initially it was a small asylum for male patients and was situated miles away from any community in the state of Vermont. Throughout it's entire history it has been known as the most professional, top notched facility in America for severely mentally ill patients. In the begining it was a place meant for 'curable' patients but throughout the past century they have taken on 'incurable' patients. While EVE conducts their own experiements and have been mysterious and secretive about the going ons in their campus they have a close relationship with the surrounding city (which was first a small town that flourished around EVE). There is a State University in Eden that has an especially cooperative relationship with the Asylum in regards to doctors and education.
EVE is not without it's controversies. Within the past decade alone there have been rumors and myths about the history of EVE and the present actions they are taking with their patients. Because they limit themselves today by taking the worst patients few people question or challenge them. Even the former cases of assault and abuse have been dismissed partially because of their fascade as an excellent institution. The Doctors here are one of the best in their field but there's something shady going on in EVE. In some cases they are driving their patients into further madness by pushing them beyond their physical or mental capabilities. Their mix of curable and incurable patients, aggressive and forcibly mute patients have caused clashes, however most in the community of Eden see EVE as place of peace-after all they take the invalids and psychotic out of society.
Do what you will with the darkness of this Asylum. EVE has it's share of sadistic doctors, abusive guards, psychotic patients and drug addicted staff members. There's nothing normal about EVE, from it's patients inside the facility to the people running it. You're in for a loony ride.
